Our cellar is located in Requena (Valencia) about approximately 600 meters above sea level. The finca has around 60 hectares of vineyards in the village of Camporrobles, close to Utiel. The cellar produces the wine with our brand “Cerro BERCIAL” and “FUENTESECA”, which is under the Denomination of Origin Utiel-Requena.
Bodega SIERRA NORTE was born in 1995 as three partners joined and decided to take over this project and start producing their wines known as Cerro BERCIAL. The name Cerro BERCIAL comes from a small mountainous area in the area of Utiel-Requena.
All vineyards at Sierra norte are certified by Comité de Agricultura Ecológica (Organic Agriculture Committee), as well as the winery, being the first cellar in Comunidad Valenciana in obtaining this certification in 2000.
Traditionally, this area has produced wine for sale in large quantities in bulk and retail business, but recently some wine growers in this area have seen the importance of bottling and the big quality potential of the area and have increased their production of quality bottled wines. We also want to give the local variety Bobal a main role in our wines, which we blend with Tempranillo. We started producing wines in small quantities. We have increased our production figures but our objective is always quality and not quantity.
At our vineyards, we grow the varieties Tempranillo, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Bobal in reds, and Macabeo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc in whites. Both our cellar and vineyards are ORGANIC-certified.
As well as in Requena, we have two more production plants in La Roda and Jumilla, with the indigenous varieties as the centre of all our projects.
Our wines are covered by 4 different geographical denominations:
